EERG Director Dr. Nader Mahinpey just got back from an academic trip to China.

EERG Director Dr. Nader Mahinpey just got back from an academic trip to China. He accepted an invitation from the China University of Petroleum (Qingdao, China) to visit Qingdao during the second week of May 2012. While in China, Dr. Mahinpey met with Dean of Engineering Dr Liu Chenguang and gave series of lectures in the area of Bioenergy Production and CO2 Capture Technology in front of about 200 graduate students and university staff. 

“China University of Petroleum has shown me that they are ready to compete with other world class university to be a leader in the area of petroleum science and engineering. I also learned a lot about the hard working culture of their student and Chinese people in general during my visit to Qingdao” said Dr. Mahinpey. “I cannot wait to continue my work with my group and contribute to the progress of bioenergy research in Canada and the world.” 

China university of Petroleum is one of the top petroleum science and engineering focused university in the Chinese education system. In 1997, it ranked among the key universities of the “211 Project”. This project was initiated in 1995 by the Ministry of Education, with the intent of raising the research standards of high-level universities and to accelerate the socio-economic development of China. University has over 17,000 regular undergraduates, over 2,000 postgraduates, over 139,000 correspondence students and over 6,000 Internet students.
