Award recipients were nominated by instructors in their own department. Selection is based on criteria which may include: ability to communicate board and accurate knowledge of the subject matter, success at motivating and challenging students to reach their potential, enthusiasm for teaching, fairness and consistency in grading, providing valuable feedback on student work, availability for consultation, and ability to model for and inspire undergraduate students to learn
