Setareh started her PhD program in Chemical Engineering at University of Calgary in September 2023. Her thesis is focused on the synthesis and characterization of supported functionalized ionic liquid sorbents for CO₂ capture. Her fields of interest are development of polymer-based membranes and solid sorbents for CO₂ capture as well as their reaction and kinetic modeling.

Setareh has received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Shiraz University in 2016 and 2020, respectively. Her M.Sc. research was focused on preparation and characterization of a dual-layer PEBAX-IL/PES composite membrane with applications in CO2 separation from natural gas, which has been published in the Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry.
